It is so essential to developing thankfulness as a lifestyle, not just during Thanksgiving Time. There are three vital steps in developing this in your life. When developing new habits, you will need to be deliberate in your actions at first to establish this as a way of life.
1. Remember each week the things and people you are thankful for at the end of the week. An excellent way to remember is by writing out each one and giving thanks for that person or thing. Remember the song, “Count your blessing.” It says “count your blessing name them one by one, and it may surprise you what the Lord has done.”
2. Recall throughout the day how often you are being encouraged, helped and blessed by someone. No man is an island unto himself, we all need people to help us. So you may want to mention their name in prayer or call them and let them know how much you appreciate them.
3. Return the thankfulness you have received by being a blessing to someone else. Continue the blessing cycle by passing it on. You get a wonderful feeling when you know that you have helped someone else. Scripture states “What you sow you reap” You are aware of this in nature with seed-time and harvest. A right way is to send a thank you note, text or call them and let them know how much you appreciate them.
There are countless more ways we can develop a lifestyle of Thanksgiving, but these three will get you off to a good start.
